In the 2022 IPL season, Maheesh Theekshana made his IPL debut with Chennai Super Kings against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 15th April at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai. In his first match, Maheesh Theekshana delivered 4 overs while giving away 31 runs at a 7.80 economy rate. However, he bounced back from his bad form in the second match against RCB, scalping 4 wickets at 33 runs at the very same ground in Mumbai.

Debuted in 2022, Maheesh Theekshana became the youngest IPL bowler with a 4-wicket haul in his second match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, achieving the milestone at 21 years and 255 days.
