Shaik Rasheed IPL Profile

Coming from a very small town, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Shaik Rashid is a right-handed batter and an occasional legbreak bowler. 20-year-old Shaik Rashid represents the Andhra Pradesh domestic cricket team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Ranji Trophy (2021-2022). Although his classified knock of 94 runs against Australia in the Semifinal of the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup gave him recognition that he deserved. 

Behind achieving his dream, Shaik Rashid’s father played an important role. The father and son duo travelled more than 40 km just so Shaik Rashid could get the right training from the experienced coaches. At last, their hard work got results when Rasheed was secured by the five-time Champion Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023 auction.

Shaik Rasheed IPL Debut

Shaik Rasheed made his IPL debut with the Chennai Super Kings in the 2025 IPL season. He played his first match against the Lucknow Super Giants on April 14 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. In this first match, Rasheed scored 27 runs off 19 balls with a strike rate of 142.11.  He played as an opener and hit 6 fours before getting caught by Pooran off Avesh Khan’s ball.

Before IPL, Shaik Rasheed played for the India U19 squad in the 2022 ICC World Cup U-19 as a vice-captain. He also represented the Andhra Pradesh cricket team in first-class and List-A cricket. His domestic career and International U-19 cricket performance played an important role in his 2023 IPL selection.

The Chennai Super Kings retained their uncapped player Shaik Rashid for the IPL 2025 season. Rasheed didn’t make it to the team eleven in the 2024 IPL season. However, the franchise decided to use their span-new talent in the 18th edition of the IPL.
