The youngest player in IPL 2025 is Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The 13-year-old fetched ₹1.1 crores at the auction after being bought by Rajasthan Royals. Apart from the Royals, Suryavanshi also received bids from Delhi Capitals.
C Andre Siddharth is the second youngest player in the IPL 2025. The Tamil Nadu batter was picked up by five-time champions, Chennai Super Kings for ₹30 lakhs.
Kwena Maphaka is the youngest overseas player in the IPL 2025. Unlike many players on this list, Maphaka has already played in the grand league in the previous season for Mumbai Indians. The left-arm fast bowler conceded 89 runs in the two matches he played and picked up only one wicket. Maphaka will join Suryavanshi in RR after he was picked for ₹1.5 crores.

Sandeep Lamichhane is the 10th youngest player in IPL. The Nepali spin bowler made his debut in IPL 2018 for the Delhi Capitals. Interestingly, this was his first T20 match and he had not even played for Nepal before this match. His debut came against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He opened the bowling in the second innings and bowled miserly. His four overs went for only 25 runs and dismissed the opening batter, Parthiv Patel.
The leg-spinner played nine games in the IPL and picked up 13 wickets. For Nepal, Lamichhane 58 T20Is where he managed to pick 108 wickets. He bowled cheaply and had a T20I career economy of only 6.15 RPO.
Ishan Kishan is the 9th youngest player in IPL. The left-handed opening batter made his debut for the Gujarat Lions in 2017. However, unfortunately for Kishan, he did not get a chance to bat in the second innings as the Lion chased down the target for the loss of three wickets. In the first innings, though, the young batter took a nice catch at the backward square leg boundary.
Kishan has now played 105 matches in the IPL and is considered one of the best opening batters in the league. He has scored 2,644 runs at a strike rate of 135.9. He has represented the Indian cricket team in all three formats. He has found immense success in the ODIs where he has played 27 matches scoring 933 runs which includes a double century. In 32 T20Is, Kishan has scored 796 runs at a strike rate of 124.4.
The current sensation of the Indian T20I setup, Abhishek Sharma is the 8th youngest player in IPL. Abhishek made his debut for the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in IPL 2018 against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The left-handed batter instantly showed what he was capable of as he struck 46 in 19 balls only. His unbeaten knock consisted of three fours and four sixes. The sixes were equally distributed among Mohammed Siraj and Tim Southee.
Sharma has played 63 matches in the IPL scoring 1,377 runs at a strike rate of 155.24. However, it was in 2024, when he portrayed his true promise as he blasted 484 runs at a strike rate of more than 200. In 12 T20Is for India, Abhishek has scored 256 runs at a strike rate of 171.8.

Both Chahar brothers have gone on to create a name for themselves in the IPL in the recent years. The younger brother, Rahul Chahar was only 17 years old when he made his debut for the Rising Pune Supergiants against Kings XI Punjab (Punjab Kings). In his four overs, the young leg-spinner conceded 32 runs while picking up a solitary wicket of Hashim Amla.
Rahul has played 78 matches in the IPL and managed to pick 75 wickets. The wickets column has dried over the last few years which has resulted in being dropped from the national team as well. In six T20Is, Rahul picked only seven wickets and conceded runs at an economy of 7.6 RPO
Washington Sundar is the 6th youngest player in IPL. The bowling all-rounder made his debut for the Rising Pune Supergiants against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2017. Even though Sundar did not manage to pick up a wicket he still made his presence feel. The off-spinner bowled three overs all in the powerplay conceding only 19 runs. His miserly economy in the end proved to be the point of difference as RPSG won the match on the final ball.
Since then Sundar has only managed to play 60 matches in the IPL because of regular injuries. In those 60 games, the all-roounder has picked up 37 wickets while bowling at an economy of 7.54. With the bat in hand, Sundar has underperformed scoring only 378 runs at a strike rate of 116.3. Although, for the ‘Men in Blue’ Sundar has been a match-winner in the limited chances he has been given.
Sarfaraz Khan made his debut as a 17 year old for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2015. He was a success in the hard hitting batting lineup of RCB in the first two seasons. Sarfaraz on his debut only scored 11 runs in seven balls before being dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. He scored 177 runs in IPL 2015 and 2016 at a strike rate of 170. Sarfaraz never could never retain or regain the same form in the IPL again.
He has played six matches for India in the longest format where he scored 371 runs which included a 150 against New Zealand. Sarfaraz was one of the unsold players in the IPL 2025 auction.
Pradeep Sangwan was part of the Indian U-19 team that won the tournament in 2008. He was picked up by the Delhi Daredevils for the inaugural IPL season in 2008 where the fast bowler debuted against Chennai Super Kings. Sangwan’s debut wasn’t memorable as failed to pick a single wicket and conceded 40 runs in his four overs.
He played 42 matches in the IPL for five teams and picked only 38 wickets. His economy of 8.7 meant that Sangwan’s opportunities remained limited at the top level of cricket and was never called up to play for India.
For a long time it looked Riyan Parag had all the potential in the world but not the ability to use it in matches. In IPL 2019, Parag became the 3rd youngest player in the IPL. In his debut match, Parag scored 16 runs in 14 balls hitting two fours. With the ball in hand in the second innings, the Guwahati-born cricketer conceded 24 runs in three overs without picking a single wicket.
In the same season, Parag became the youngest player to score a half-century in the IPL. In his first five seasons with the Rajasthan Royals, Parag scored 600 runs at a strike rate of 124. However, things changed quickly in IPL 2024, when Parag scored 573 runs at a strike rate of 149.2 which not only saw him become the third highest-run getter in the season but also earned him a place in the Indian team. In nine T20Is, Parag has scored 106 runs at a strike rate of 156. With the ball in hand he has picked up four wickets while going at an economy of 6.7.
Afghanistan cricket team has produced some of the best spinners in the past decade including Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Mujeeb ur Rahman. Rahman is the youngest overseas player to make a debut in the IPL. The off-spinner made his debut for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in IPL 2018.On his debut, Rahman picked up two wickets of Colin Munro and Rishabh Pant. He bowled cheaply as well conceding only 28 runs.
The Afghan spinner has played 19 matches in the IPL where has scalped 19 wickets. His ability to bowl overs miserly has diminished over the years resulting in an economy of 8.18. For Afghanistan, Rahman has been a key player where in 46 T20I matches, he has picked 59 wickets while going at an economy of only 6.35 RPO.
Prayas Ray Barman is the youngest player in the IPL. The leg-spinner is the only player to make his debut as a 16 year old in the league. Barman made his debut for RCB against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2019. He faced the tough challenge of bowling to arguably one the best opening pairs in the history of the tournament, Jonny Bairstow and David Warner. The overseas batting duo struck centuries as RCB bowlers including Barman had no answers. The young spinner conceded 56 runs in his four overs including four sixes and three fours. His poor showing in his debut meant that Barman never played in the IPL again.
