This news of BCCI’s pulling out from the two Asia Cup events came out after the border tensions between India and Pakistan and the terror attack by the Pakistani terrorists in Pahalgam in Kashmir on the innocent Indian tourists who came to Kashmir. The reports also said that a letter was given to the Asian Cricket Council from the BCCI regarding to pull out from the Asia Cup 2025 and Women’s Emerging Asia Cup, which will be played in Sri Lanka.
However, the Indian Broad has confirmed that nothing was given in writing nor such a matter was discussed. There were some media houses who showed that BCCI will not participate in the two upcoming Asia Cup events of the Men’s and Women’s. But those news don’t have any truth and BCCI hasn’t taken steps regarding these matters. Also nothing has been written to the Asian Cricket Council as well regarding the pulling out from the two ACC events.
Now the BCCI is solely focussing on host the reminder of the TATA Indian Premier League 2025 season and after the 18th edition of the IPL is over then the Indian Cricket Team will travel to England for a series of five red ball matches. BCCI is also actively looking for new Test captain for that series after Rohit Sharma has announced his Test retirement. The sources say that Shubman Gill is the front runner for that job and Boom Boom Bumrah might also be given that responsibility.
The BCCI will also look to find the replacement of irreplaceable Virat Kohli, who also quit the Test format before all important tour of England. The King used to bat at number four for the Men in Blue in the red ball format. KL Rahul might be the right choice for that vacant spot left by King Kohli in Test match cricket. So there are many things for BCCI to make it right for they haven’t indulged in the matter of the pulling out of the Asia Cup events in 2025.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to boycott the Asia Cup if the venue of the next ACC meeting is not shifted to a neutral location. The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, has been asked to move the meeting from Dhaka, Bangladesh, to a neutral location.
This comes only a few days after India’s tour to Bangladesh was postponed by a year, which could have seen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma back in action at the international level.
The speculations suggesting that BCCI was ready to boycott the Asia Cup over the venue of the ACC meeting have been put to rest. The tensions between India and Pakistan, a couple of months earlier, had put the Asia Cup under the scanner. The BCCI had requested that the venue of the meeting be shifted from Bangladesh to a neutral venue. But now it is reported that the Indian board, represented by Rajeev Shukla, will attend the meeting virtually. The meeting in Dhaka will decide if the continental tournament will take place or not.
