Batters in the Indian Squad for the Asia Cup 2025

Many players on the Indian team have performed very well in the T20 format in recent times, making it very difficult for the selectors to select 15 players. While announcing the Indian team, it was announced that Suryakumar Yadav will be the captain and Shubman Gill will be seen in the role of vice-captain. On Gill's inclusion, captain Suryakumar said: "The last time he was playing T20s after the World Cup, and when we went to Sri Lanka, he was the vice-captain. That's where we started a new phase of the T20 World Cup 2026. After that, we got busy with Test cricket, and he didn't get opportunities. We are happy to have him on the team.”

Apart from him, Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma have been included as wicket-keepers, while Rinku Singh has got a place in the team as an extra middle-order batsman. However, Dhruv Jurel has been kept on the standby players list in case of any injury.

All-rounders in the Indian Squad for Asia Cup 2025

This time, the Indian team has some outstanding players as all-rounders. While Hardik Pandya is a fast-bowling all-rounder, Axar Patel is a spin-bowling all-rounder. Apart from them, Abhishek Sharma, Shivam Dube and Tilak Verma are also such players who have the ability to bowl a few overs in any situation. The good news is that they are all included in the squad for the upcoming Asia Cup.

Bowlers in the Indian Squad for the Asia Cup 2025

There was a doubt on Jasprit Bumrah for a long time regarding his selection in the Indian team for the Asia Cup, whether his fitness will remain good, or he will be included in the Indian Asia Cup squad, although a few days ago, Jasprit Bumrah informed BCCI that he is available for the  Asia Cup 2025. After which, it was impossible to stop his selection in the squad. However, the selectors are also aware of Bumrah's injuries in recent years. Talking about which, Ajit Agarkar said, "I don't think there is any written plan. The physio, team management and the concerned people have always been in touch. We are trying to take care of him because we know how important he is. We want him to be available for all the big games. There are big series like the World Cup, the Championship, England and Australia - you want him to be available. Because he has had injuries in the last 2-3 years, that's how special and unique it is - that won't change. Depending on how he’s feeling and how much we need him, we expect him to be available most of the time.”

Apart from them, Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana will be seen supporting Bumrah in the fast bowling. Captain Suryakumar Yadav was seen talking about Harshit Rana in the press conference and said, "Harshit has played really well in the IPL. He was the man of the match in the last match he played for India, in the concussion replacement match in Pune. Given his skills, we know he can perform well.”

Moreover, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy will be seen troubling the opponent team with brilliant spin bowling.

Which players are not part of the Indian Squad?

The Top batters missing from the Indian team for the Asia Cup are Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer. Talking about Jaiswal, Agarkar said, "It's unfortunate. With what Abhishek has done in the last year, we need a bowling option as well. One of these players was always going to be out.”

Iyer had recently performed brilliantly in IPL 2025 and T20 in Domestic Cricket, after which it seemed that perhaps his selection in the team was certain, but the selectors' opinion seemed different. About Shreyas, Agarkar said, "It is not his fault in this either. You have to tell who he can replace? For now, we have to wait for his chance.”

Apart from the batters, there is also an important all-rounder in the form of Washington Sundar, who gave a good performance in recent times, but he failed to secure his place on this Indian team. Regarding Sundar, Agarkar said in the press conference that: "He has always been a part of the team's plans. At the moment, we have two mystery spinners/wrist spinners in Varun and Kuldeep, and Axar has been in the team for some time now. When we need four spinners, he can always join the team. Right now, we feel we need an extra batsman, Rinku. And you can only pick 15. If there were 16, maybe he could have made the team.” Apart from these, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna are such players in bowling who have performed well recently but could not be included in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2025.
