KL Rahul appeared to ignore LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka following his half-century against his former franchise in IPL 2025. Though he was the captain of the LSG franchise from IPL 2022 to 2024.
Before the IPL clash between the LSG and DC, all eyes were on KL Rahul and Sanjeev Goenka, who had previously drawn attention for controversial reasons. But Rahul, in his new team with the Delhi Capitals, proved to be the difference as he scored a measured half-century, helped DC get a dominant victory over LSG, that too at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. After the match, when everyone was shaking hands, an animated, controversial moment between Rahul and the LSG owner was seen on video on social media, which went viral.
Rahul didn’t spend much time and gave Goenka a quick handshake before seemingly ignoring him after the match. Back when Rahul was leading the Lucknow team, there were times when Goenka was seen supposedly scolding him, especially when Rahul was going through a tough time as captain.
KL Rahul became the fastest player to score 5000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He reached this milestone during Delhi Capitals’ big eight-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Tuesday. Rahul took just 130 innings to do it, beating players like David Warner (135 innings), Virat Kohli (157), AB de Villiers (161), and Shikhar Dhawan (168).
He was playing against his old team — the one he had led in IPL 2024 before being let go after a heated argument with the team owner. Rahul scored a calm and steady 57 runs from 44 balls, helping his team win and also reach the big 5000-run mark in style.
"Shareef insan hai (He is a good person)," said Goenka while talking about Rahul. “He is a very honest person, and I wish that everything good happens to an honest person like him. He is also very talented, and I wish he would display his talent to the world. I am very sure he will do well. My best wishes are with him.”
