Jos Buttler was named the player of the match for his unbeaten 97-run knock in the second innings that allowed the Gujarat Titans to seal the win. The Englishman top-scored in an important clash against the table-toppers, Delhi Capitals. Even though he could not get the record-equalling eighth ton in the IPL, Buttler’s knock helped his team get the crucial two points that pushed them to the top of the points table. He struck 11 fours and four sixes in his knock, sharing a 119-run stand with Sherfane Rutherford, which sealed the deal for the Titans at home.

Prasidh Krishna was the point of difference between a score of 220 and 203 by Delhi Capitals in the first innings. The right-arm pacer picked up four wickets in the match and got himself right at the top of the wicket-takers list, overtaking Noor Ahmad on the Purple Cap leaderboard. Krishna dismissed KL Rahul and Karun Nair in his first spell. He came back to bowl his last over in the fag end of the innings and picked up two more wickets on consectuive balls.
Karun Nair made the full use of the power play restrictions and boosted the visitors to a score of 200 runs in the first innings. The right-handed batter played with positive intent in the first six overs. He scored 31 runs in only 18 balls before being dismissed by Prasidh. Nair smashed two fours and sixes each in his knock.
It was a closely contested clash in the first innings. The DC batters, although they did not hit a single half-century but made sure that they ended up with a total of more than 200 runs. Karun Nair and KL Rahul (batting at number three) got the visitors off to a great start. Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel shared a 53-run stand for the fourth wicket, steadying the ship. However, Ashutosh Sharma, with some cheeky shots and clean hitting, provided the finishing touch to the innings.
With the ball in hand, Prasidh Krishna was the pick among the bowlers as he picked up four wickets. His spell made the difference of at least 20 runs in the final score. Krishna dismissed KL Rahul and Karun Nair in his opening spell. He dismissed Axar Patel and Vipraj Nigam off successive deliveries in his final over.

For DC, the batter-friendly pitch and conditions at the Narendra Modi Stadium proved to be too difficult for their bowlers. Kuldeep Yadav and Mukesh Kumar were the only wicket takers, with Shubman Gill falling to a run out.
