Bobat commented on the incident, saying that those who lost their lives have "become part of our legacy and history." He stressed that their stories will now be part of the team's heritage and should always be respected.
“Cricket and the IPL are symbols of passion and enjoyment, and one of our biggest motivations is our fans. During the competition, we expressed our desire to win it for them. Our fans have shown remarkable patience, and with some of our team members being new, it's especially meaningful. Many of these fans have waited 18 years for this moment, and sadly, some have lost their lives along the way,” Bobat said in a recent interview.
Bobat added, “We look forward to honouring those individuals and supporting their families. Their stories have become part of our history. All sports teams have a history and a legacy.”
Let us tell you that for the first time in IPL history, Royal Challenger Bengaluru won the title by defeating Punjab Kings by 6 runs in the final of IPL 2025, after which there was an atmosphere of joy among RCB fans. Royal Challenger Bengaluru wanted to share this historic victory with their friends, for which they organised a title-winning celebration, but more fans than expected attended the celebration, and a huge stampede tragedy took place. During this period, 11 innocent fans lost their lives, and many fans were seriously injured. However, after this, RCB tried to help in every possible way from their side. Now, regarding that incident, RCB director Mo Bobat has requested that the franchise honour the fans who lost their lives during this tragic stampede forever.
Meanwhile, the Chinnaswamy Stadium has been dropped as a venue for the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025 after a report by a judicial commission set up following the stampede found the stadium "fundamentally unsafe" for large-scale events.
The iconic Chinnaswamy Stadium had earlier been picked as a potential venue for the highly anticipated ICC Women's World Cup 2025. This historic ground could soon witness some thrilling matches as the world's best female cricketers compete for glory. However, following the tragic stampede incident during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Trophy celebration, a significant question was raised about organising large-scale events on this ground. After this tragedy, the government formed the Justice Michael D'Kanha Commission, whose job was to explain the cause of the entire incident. Following this, the commission made many surprising revelations in its report and explained why M. Chinnaswamy Stadium is not capable of hosting any big event. This caused authorities to shift the Women's World Cup 2025 matches, which were to be held on this ground, from here to Navi Mumbai.
Recently, the ICC has rescheduled the Women's World Cup 2025, according to which all the matches that were to be held at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium have been shifted from here to Navi Mumbai, which will host five matches, along with one semi-final. The removal of a ground like this before a major tournament was a huge setback for the Frenchies. The Chinnaswamy Stadium got a big blow after the reports of the commission.
