The ICC Chairman Jay Shah believes that the Navi Mumbai ground is ideal for women's cricket. He said, "Navi Mumbai has emerged as the true home of women's cricket in recent years. The support it has received during international matches and the Women's Premier League is remarkable. This has created an atmosphere that motivates the players and inspires the fans. I am sure that the same energy will be seen in the big matches of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup to be held in India after 12 years.”
"We stand at a crucial juncture in the journey of women's sport. This World Cup may be remembered as one of the defining milestones that shaped the future of the game, not just in India, but across the cricketing world.” He added.
Moreover, he said, “Although unforeseen circumstances required us to alter the schedule and move a venue, we are thrilled to now have five world-class venues showcasing the best of the women’s game. The stage is set, and I am confident that this tournament will spark the imagination of spectators and inspire a new generation of fans.”
The ICC Women's World Cup 2025 will begin with the first match between the host country, Indian Women, and Sri Lanka Women, to be played at Guwahati. A total of eight teams are playing in this tournament, each of which will play 7 matches in the group stage. As already decided by the BCCI, Pakistan will not play any of its matches in India. The high-voltage match between the India Women and the Pakistan Women is scheduled to take place on 5th October at Colombo, Sri Lanka, promising an exciting showdown that fans won't want to miss. The timings of almost all the matches will start at 3:00 PM IST, while the only double header match of the tournament will start at 11 AM. The Indian team has a golden opportunity to win the title by showing a good match in home conditions, but till now it has failed to win even a single title and has been runners-up twice. However, the venue for one semi-final and one final of the World Cup has not been decided yet, which will depend on whether Pakistan progresses beyond the group stage or not.
