The announcement by Dhawan, nicknamed the ‘Gabbar’, included a deeply emotional and thought-provoking message from the former India batsman who has played several key knocks.
Dhawan stated that his autobiography is a story of the in-between of the wins and losses he has endured in his long career. “Not every win makes it to the highlights. Not every loss shows on the scoreboard. 'The One' is the story of all the in-betweens. Of learning, unlearning, and showing up, every single time. This one's from the heart,” the words from Dhawan read.

Before reaching the heights of greatness, Shikhar Dhawan got engaged to Melbourne-based kick-boxer Aesha Mukherjee in 2008. Dhawan met Aesha through an introduction from fellow countryman Harbhajan Singh. The duo got married in 2012. Dhawan is 12 years younger than Aesha Mukherjee, who has two daughters from a previous marriage.
Dhawan legally adopted her two daughters, Aliyah and Rhea, from her former husband, and they welcome a son named Zoravar, born in December 2014. But the duo ended their marriage in 2021 and were granted a divorce on 5 October 2023.
Recently, Shikhar Dhawan has been spotted spending quality time with an Irish professional product consultant Sophie Shine. Although Shikhar Dhawan has remained silent regarding his personal relationship, Sophie Shine chose to make an official announcement through her Instagram, sharing a post in collaboration with Dhawan, with the caption reading, 'My love' alongside a red heart emoji.
The left-hand opening batter Shikhar Dhawan has had a successful career representing the Indian cricket team in all formats of the game.
In the ODI format, Dhawan has been particularly outstanding, representing India in 167 matches and amassing 6,793 runs at an impressive average of 44.1. He has scored 17 centuries and 39 half-centuries in his ODI career.
He played an instrumental role in guiding the Indian cricket team to the ICC Champions Trophy victory in 2013. He scored 363 runs in 5 innings and finished as the leading run scorer of the tournament, winning the Golden Bat.
Dhawan had a blast-off to begin his Test career. On March 18, 2013, Shikhar Dhawan made his Test debut for India vs Australia. He went on to score a gigantic 187 runs off just 174 balls. In the process, he created the record of the fastest century by a Test debutant as he reached the milestone in just 85 balls.
Since then, he played 34 Test matches until 2018 for Team India, forming a solid opening combination with the likes of Murali Vijay and Rohit Sharma. The Delhi-born batter has scored 2315 runs in his Test career, averaging 40.61, which includes 7 centuries and 5 half-centuries.
Throughout his IPL career, he has played for multiple franchises such as the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers (no longer active), Sunrisers Hyderabad, and the Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab).
In his IPL career lasting from 2008 to 2024, Dhawan has 6769 runs in 222 matches, establishing himself as one of the best batters in the history of the competition. On August 24, 2024, Shikhar Dhawan officially announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.
