However, a recent statement by MCA President Ajinkya Naik has confirmed in a press release that they have accepted the NOC withdrawal request by Yashasvi Jaiswal. Now, the batter has changed his mind and decided to remain with the Mumbai team.
"Yashasvi has always been a proud product of Mumbai cricket," said Ajinkya Naik, president of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), in a formal press statement. We have accepted Jaiswal's withdrawal NOC application, and he will be available for Mumbai in the forthcoming domestic season."
During the IPL 2025 season, there was a lot of controversy surrounding Rajasthan Royals' opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal. With regular captain Sanju Samson unavailable due to injury, the Rajasthan Royals preferred Riyan Parag as the captain over Jaiswal, who had delivered some great previous few seasons.
After that, rumours surfaced that Yashasvi is not happy with the management's decision to overlook him as a captaincy candidate. Throughout the season, multiple reports stated that he is looking for a way out of the Royals camp for next season.
Soon after, further reports added that Yashasvi Jaiswal has submitted a request for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to join the Goa team. The reports further added that Goa fulfilled his ambition of leadership by offering him captaincy.
Nevertheless, recent rumors indicate that Jaiswal has decided to stay with Mumbai ahead of the upcoming domestic season and has requested to withdraw his previous NOC claim following the end of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. MCA President Ajinkya Naik has now confirmed that Yashasvi will continue with Mumbai.
Even though the IPL 2025 season got off to a shaky start, Yashasvi Jaiswal had an incredible season. In 14 matches, the young left-hand batsman scored 559 runs that included some hugely incredible knocks.
Despite the great performance from Jaiswal, the 2008 IPL champions Rajasthan Royals, finished only in 9th position in the points table. Throughout the season, they won only 4 matches and lost 10 games.
Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a century in the first Test Match between Team India and England. In this game, Jaiswal was one of four Indian players to reach the century mark.
Jaiswal's milestone came in the first inning of the match. The left-hand opening batter scored 101 runs off 158 balls. But he had bad luck in the second inning, getting out for just four runs.
The first inning saw India score 471 runs, but England responded with 465 runs. Three batters scored a century in this inning for Team India. Other than Jaiswal, new captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Rishabh Pant also reached their individual milestones. Gill scored 147 runs while Pant was dismissed after scoring 134 runs.
England scored 465 in response with Ollie Pope’s innings of 106 runs, while white ball captain Harry Brook missed his ton by one run and was dismissed for 99 runs.
With hundreds from KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, Team India set a target of 371 runs. Rahul hit 137 runs, and Rishabh Pant completed his twin century with 118 runs off 140 balls.
The hosts, England, reached the target in the dying moments of the final day. Ben Duckett played the match-winning knock of 149 runs off 170 balls. England have taken a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. The Edgbaston Ground in Birmingham will host the second Test match between England and India beginning on July 2.
