As many as eight bowlers picked up a four-wicket haul in BBL 2024/25. Among them, Mark Steketee was the only bowler to take a four-for as well as a fifer. He picked up 15 wickets in six games while maintaining an economy of only 7.23 runs per over.
Ben Dwarshuis, Spencer Johnson, Xavier Bartlett, Wes Agar, Sean Abbott, Jackson Bird, and D’Arcy Short were the other seven bowlers with a four-for next to their names. Sydney Thunder’s Nathan McAndrew also picked up a five-wicket haul but could not register a four-for.

Jhye Richardson has the 5th most four-wicket hauls in BBL. The 28-year-old has picked up five four-fers in the competition. With age on his side, Richardson could well finish with the most four-fers in BBL. However, injuries have played a spoiled sport to his career. Jhye has often been sidelined from the action thanks to injuries. But once he is playing there are only a few bowlers could can swing the ball at a speed as he does.
In the BBL, the young fast bowler has played 75 matches and picked up five four-wicket hauls. Twice in his career, the right-arm pacer has picked two four-fers in the same season. He achieved this feat in 2020/21 and 2022/23. In 2020/21, Jhye picked up 29 wickets including two four-fers. However, in 2022/23, Jhye was even better in the limited matches he played. The Perth Scorchers bowler played only seven games and picked a four-for twice in the season while striking at a rate of 11 balls per wicket.
Daniel Sams has the 4th most four-wicket hauls in the BBL. The bowling all-rounder has picked up five four-fers in the BBL so far. Sams has played only seven seasons of the tournament but has looked to be the real deal with the ball in hand. His best season came all the way back in 2019/20 when the left-arm pacer became the first bowler to pick 30 wickets in a single season of the BBL. However, he has shown the ability to only improve in the last three seasons where he has picked up a four-fer in each of them.
Sams' first four-wicket haul came in his first season in 2017/18. In spite of only playing six matches, the bowling all-rounder showed glimpses of what he can achieve. In the record-breaking season of 2019/20, the 32-year-old picked up another four-fer to add to his growing tally. It is the last three seasons when the pacer has shown his consistency and picked up a four-fer in each of them. During this period, he has picked 49 wickets in only 37 innings.

Kane Richardson has the 3rd most four-wicket hauls in the BBL. The right-arm pacer has picked five four-fers in the Big Bash League. Among those who have five four-fers to their name, Kane has taken the second most wickets. The South Australian bowler is known for his skills in the death overs and can bowl a great yorker as well. Kane like many other Australian fast bowlers have had their opportunities limited to represent the national side. Thanks to the likes of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, a few bowlers in spite of being exceptional in the BBL have not been a regular feature in the Australian team.
In the BBL, Richardson has taken 141 wickets in 116 games. His economy of 7.83 might look high in isolation, however, because he bowls most in the last stage of an innings, Kane has been an incredible performer for his team. The right-arm pacer has picked up two four-fers in a season twice. He achieved the feat first in 2017/18 and repeated it in 2019/20. He was scarcely available in the two seasons and only played 18 games in both seasons.
Sean Abbott has the 2nd most four-wicket hauls in the BBL. The bowling all-rounder has picked up four four-fers in 124 matches so far in the tournament. The New South Wales bowler is one of the best players in the league. He is a three-dimensional cricketer and can change a game while batting, bowling, or even with his fielding. In spite of an economy that tends to be higher than other bowlers, Abbott is known to make an impact whenever he is given a chance to bowl.
Abbott’s four-fers are divided equally into five seasons. His first four-wicket haul in the marquee T20 league came in 2016/17. The next four hauls came in 2017/18, 2021/22, 2023/24, and 2024/25. He picked the most wickets in 2016/17 among these five seasons. The right-arm pacer finished the year with 20 wickets in 10 matches at a strike rate of close to 11.
Andrew Tye has the most four-wicket hauls in the BBL. The right-arm pacer has taken six four-fers in the Big Bash League. Tye has been a part of the marquee T20 league for 10 years. In those 10 years, he has managed to make the best use of his experience, especially while bowling in the death where he uses the knuckleball to great effect. He was a late bloomer to professional cricket having debuted at the age of 26. While he was late to the party, Tye has given a lot to his fans to celebrate over the years.
Tye has picked up 161 wickets in the tournament which included a record six four-wicket hauls. His consistency in the tournament is showcased with his four-fers coming in six different seasons. In 2014/15 playing for the Scorchers, Tye picked up his first four-wicket haul. From 2016/17 to 2020/21, the right-arm pacer picked four four-fers in consecutive seasons. His best came in 2017/18 when Tye in six matches picked up 16 wickets striking at a rate of less than nine balls. His record-breaking sixth four-fer came in the previous season.
