Held in England, the 2025 edition, running from July 18 to August 2, promises thrilling matches across venues like Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham, Northampton, Leicester, and Leeds. It’s a celebration of cricket’s past, where fans can watch their childhood heroes compete for glory.

The WCL features six teams: India Champions, Pakistan Champions, Australia Champions, South Africa Champions, West Indies Champions, and England Champions. Each team is packed with iconic players who no longer play for their national sides but still have the skills to entertain. 

The tournament follows a round-robin format, where teams play each other, and the top performers move to the semi-finals and final. In 2024, India Champions won the first edition, beating Pakistan Champions by 5 wickets in a thrilling final at Edgbaston. In 2025, four quarterfinalists - India, Pakistan, South Africa, and Australia- will face off against each other to claim the 2025 WCL trophy. 

Top Run Scorer in WCL 2024

Pakistani legend Shoaib Malik has the most runs scored in the World Championships of Legends 2024. Shoaib Malik bagged 245 runs from the 7 innings with an average of 79.00 and a 140.80 strike rate. In WCL 2024, Malik was a standout, finishing as the top run-scorer with over 245 runs, including a crucial 41 off 36 in the final against India.  In T20Is, he played 124 matches, scoring 2,435 runs at an average of 31.21 and a strike rate of 125.64. His adaptability and experience make him a key middle-order player.

Here are the top 5 players with the most runs in the WCL from 2024 to 2025-

1. Yusuf Pathan - 351 runs

Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan in the Indian Champions is the top run scorer in the WCL history from 2024 to 2025. In his inaugural season, Pathan bagged 221 runs with an average of 55.25 in 7 matches, helping India to clinch the inaugural WCL title. He is a hard-hitting lower-middle-order batsman renowned for his ability to clear boundaries with ease, often turning games with explosive cameos. In WCL 2025, he led India with 130 runs and is one of the top scorers of the season. In T20Is, he played 22 matches, scoring 236 runs at an average of 18.15 and a strike rate of 146.58, with three 30+ scores, no fifties.

2. Ian Bell - 348 runs

English player Ian Bell, an elegant batter, is known for his classical technique, exquisite cover drives, and ability to anchor or accelerate innings. In WCL 2024, Bell scored 230 runs for England Champions, including 100 off 35 against West Indies, briefly leading the run charts. In WCL 2025, he scored 51* against Pakistan but isn’t in the top 10 highest individual scorers. He is the second-top run scorer in WCL history.  In T20Is, he played 8 matches, scoring 188 runs at an average of 23.50 and a strike rate of 115.33, with one fifty.

3. Chadwick Walton - 333 runs 

Chadwick Walton, a West Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, is an aggressive top-order player known for his quick scoring and powerful six-hitting, particularly in powerplays. In the second season of the World Championships of Legends 2025, Walton scored 152 runs with an average of 38.00. In  WCL 2024, Walton scored 181 with an average of 45.25 and contributed modestly. In T20Is, Walton played 19 matches, scoring 225 runs at an average of 13.23 and a strike rate of 114.79, with no fifties. His ability to attack early makes him a dangerous opener, though consistency remains a challenge in high-pressure games.

4. Kamran Akmal - 318 runs

Kamran Akmal, a Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman, is known for his aggressive opening style, quick reflexes, and ability to dominate powerplays with boundaries. So far, he has scored 318 runs with an average of 35.85 in 10 innings. In WCL 2025, Akmal smashed a total of 138 runs, including his 113 off 62 against the West Indies, Champions, earning Man of the Match. In T20Is, he played 58 matches, scoring 987 runs at an average of 21.00 and a strike rate of 119.63, with five fifties. His experience and attacking approach make him a key figure in Pakistan’s batting lineup.

5. AB de Villiers - 305 runs

South African batter AB de Villiers is known for his batting prowess, striking shots in 360 directions, and versatility across formats. His quick scoring and adaptability make him a T20 legend. In WCL 2025, de Villiers leads the run charts with 305 runs, averaging 152, including an unbeaten 123 off 46  with a strike rate of 267.39 against Australia Champions. In T20Is, he played 78 matches, scoring 1,672 runs at an average of 26.12 and a strike rate of 135.16, with 10 fifties. His ability to dominate any bowling attack cements his status as a game-changer.
