Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill, a promising name in the Indian cricket team, has shown the world why he is a dependable card for the team. Looking at his stats, you could easily see and understand if not for him, the result of this series could have been something else. He broke multiple records as the Indian skipper including the first Indian captain to register a test win at Edgbaston. With the bat in hand, his best came in the second test of the series where he scored a double century and a century in the match helping India to win the clash. Let’s look at his statistics for the series:

He played in all 5 test matches, utilising his experience and potential to limit. His staggering figures tell a story of nothing short of a warrior on the pitch. He is a top ranker with 754 total runs for himself in the entire series with a highest score of 269.

His average runs calculated were 75.40. However, the number of balls he faced reached 1150, giving English bowlers a tough time on the pitch. With a strike rate of 65.66, which looked average against other batsmen, he still managed to leap and score 4 centuries. In the series, he stroked the ball out of the boundaries 85 times for fours and 12 times for sixes. Though England's bowling lineup did manage to send him to the pavilion in every match.

Ravindra Jadeja

Many people judge a player by his runs and find him a dependable player. Yes, it is true, but in this series, for India, the dependable is Ravindra Jadeja. Mohammed Siraj

Winning or changing a test match in your favour is not always in the hands of the batsmen. The team also needs a bowler who can make the other team struggle to even touch the ball properly. Well, the Indian cricket team is like a pocket carrying new gems of cricket, and this time, it is Mohd. Siraj.

With his bowling, he managed to break the English batsmen's lineup like a piece of glass. If you look at his bowling statistics, he took 23 wickets, the highest by any bowler. His best bowling innings is 6 wickets for 70 runs. He recorded a whopping 26 maiden overs in a test series in a total of 185.6 overs. His average was 32.43 with an economy of 4.02, which signifies his importance in helping his team keep the result in their favour. It was his spell of bowling on the fifth day of the fifth test that helped India register a strong comeback and level the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

Joe Root

Talking about the English side, the country is deemed the original place of the sport. With that said, the nation has Joe Root on their side, who helped his team place a strong position in the test series against a strong Indian side. He played for 9 innings in the entire test series for the England cricket team, helping them against any fall.

Talking about his overall scores, he totaled 537 runs and managed to stay not out once. The highest score he managed to clock was 150 runs with an average of 67.12 runs. However, the side note in his batting statistics is that he could not manage to score once in his innings and got dismissed on a score of 0. However, Brook managed to hit the big scores like 56 boundaries and 7 sixes in his overall innings. Though he played less, he managed to win England some crucial runs that helped the team secure the wins they needed for the upper hand.
