Bangladesh has given a bit inconsistent performance in the recent T20 matches. Sometimes matches are won, sometimes they are lost easily. But their last match was against Sri Lanka where they made a good comeback. Tanzid Hasan played a brilliant innings of 73* runs in the opening and the team had no problem in chasing. In bowling Mahedi Hasan changed the flow of the game by taking 4 wickets. Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful are also keeping the line-length well.
But their record against Pakistan is not strong, they got a clean sweep of 3-0 in the recent series. This time Bangladesh would definitely want to do something new in front of the home crowd. There are young players in the team who play fearless cricket, only the middle order has to take a little more responsibility. If the top 3 give a good start, then Bangladesh can be upset.
Pakistan's T20 form looks quite solid at the moment. They had done a clean sweep against Bangladesh last time, winning three matches by dominating. Mohammad Haris played a fire innings of 107* in one match which is still remembered. Fakhar Zaman and Iftikhar are also in good touch. Their bowling unit is also in balance, Abbas Afridi has taken wickets, and Haris Rauf comes with pace and aggression.
Shaheen's energy in bowling is also of a different level. Pakistan's biggest strength is their intent; they attack in any position in the match. And they also have experienced all-rounders who can handle the pressure. If the top-order collapses, it could be difficult for Bangladesh. Pakistan will emerge as the favourite but they should not be complacent.
The Mirpur pitch is the home of spinners. As the match progresses, the spin increases and the ball spins faster. In the beginning, fast bowlers can get a little bounce and seam, especially when the ball is new. But as the ball gets old, their effect reduces.
Batting becomes a little difficult here after the second innings. If a spinner bowls the ball in the right place, the entire match goes in his hands. Hence, the team winning the toss will prefer to bat first, so that later when the pitch slows down, their spinners can take control of the match.
This pitch moves slowly and is flat, meaning scoring runs seems easy initially, but after some time the ball starts moving and batting becomes tough. The team batting first gets a slight advantage.
The cricket rivalry between Bangladesh and Pakistan is one of the most interesting clashes in Asia. Both teams are powerhouses of the subcontinent but when it comes to T20I, Pakistan has shown its dominance every time. No matter how much hard work Bangladesh has done, Pakistan has kept them behind in Head-to-Head almost every time.
Till now 22 matches have been played between the two in T20I in which Pakistan has won 19 times. Bangladesh has won only 3 times. This stat itself tells what level of upper hand Pakistan has in this rivalry.
If we talk about the last match which took place on 1 June 2025 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, there also Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets. Bangladesh made a strong score of 196/6 in 20 overs. Parvez Hossain Emon played an explosive innings of 66 runs in just 34 balls, Tanzid Hasan also gave 42 runs.
But Pakistan's reply was even more powerful. Mohammad Haris scored an unbeaten century of 107* runs in just 46 balls and spoiled all the hard work of Bangladesh. Saim Ayub scored 45 runs and Hasan Nawaz played a quick cameo of 26 runs. Pakistan chased the target in just 17.2 overs.
In bowling, Abbas Afridi and Hasan Ali both took 2 wickets each and in batting, Haris did not give Bangladesh any chance at all. Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 2 wickets for Bangladesh but his effort was not enough.
This rivalry is not just a game of numbers, there is also emotions, pride and pressure. But one thing is clear from the records so far - Pakistan has dominated Bangladesh every time in T20I.
