North Delhi Strikers have achieved one defeat and one win in their last two matches. After the defeat, they made a brilliant comeback and won the last match by 19 runs. Sarthak Ranjan played a match-winning innings of 77 runs, which formed the base of their total. In bowling, Vikas Dixit and Kuldeep Yadav shook the middle order of the opposition by taking 3 wickets each. NDS showed discipline in both batting and bowling, but their middle order is still a bit inconsistent, which they will have to improve in the upcoming matches.
The recent form of West Delhi Lions has been a bit mixed. After winning the first two matches, they had to face defeat by 15 runs in the last match. Ayush Doseja played a quick innings of 51 runs, but the rest of the batsmen could not stay for long. Shubham Dubey performed well in bowling, but some bowlers gave away too many runs, due to which the opposition made a total of 180+. WDL will have to make partnerships in batting and maintain pressure in bowling if they want to return to their winning track.
Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium is considered a batting paradise. The pitch is flat, the bounce is consistent, and batsmen take advantage of the small boundaries. Hence, 170+ scores in the first innings are common here.
The bowling side has to work hard on this ground. Spinners can stop the runs if they make smart variations; otherwise, the pacers can get hit. The dew factor puts bowlers in even more trouble in the second innings, hence batting after winning the toss is a safer option.
North Delhi Strikers and West Delhi Lions have faced each other only twice in DPL so far, with NDS winning one match and WDL winning one. The most recent encounter of the last season was quite fast. WDL made 87/7 in just 7 overs, where A Sharma played an explosive innings of 32 runs for them, but NDS bowlers broke their momentum by taking wickets at regular intervals. Anirudh Chowdhary, Suyash Sharma and Aman Bharti kept WDL's innings under control by taking 2 wickets each.
In the chase, NDS played aggressive batting from the beginning and achieved the target in just 6.5 overs. Yajas Sharma anchored the team by scoring 41 runs in 21 balls, while Sarthak Ranjan gave fast support of 27 runs. P Vijayran finished the match by scoring 9 runs in the last 3 balls. WDL bowlers did not get any significant success, and NDS equalised the head-to-head record by winning the match by 7 wickets.
