In 2016, Marcus Stoinis made his IPL debut. He played his first ever IPL match with the Punjab Kings against now defunct Gujarat Lions on April 11 at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali. He scored 33 runs off 22 balls at a strike rate of 150.00. He also took a wicket while delivering 2 overs and conceded 27 runs.

The franchise retained him for the next two seasons with an increased IPL salary of Rs 6.20 crore. He moved to RCB for the same IPL price in 2019. He showed the actual IPL growth in 2022 when LSG bagged him for Rs 9.20 crore for the three seasons.
