Generally, Aakash Chopra gives his opinion on various issues related to cricket on his YouTube channel. Recently, he expressed his views on MS Dhoni's coaching future.
"It's a big deal. I don't think he's interested in it. Coaching is a tough job. Coaching keeps you as busy as you were when you were playing, sometimes even more. You have a family, and you say you've done this thing all your life, you've lived your life out of a suitcase, and you don't want to do that anymore," Chopra said on YouTube.
"That's why a lot of players don't get into coaching, and even if they do, it's only for a two-month IPL stint. However, if you become a full-time Indian head coach, it's a 10-month-a-year commitment.” Aakash Added.
Let us tell you that Aakash Chopra has been one of the players who played Test cricket for the Indian team. In his Test career, he played a total of 10 matches in which he scored 437 runs with an average of 23 runs, where his highest score was 60, which he scored against New Zealand in October 2003. Apart from this, Aakash was also a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he scored 53 runs in seven matches at an average of 8.83 in the first two seasons of IPL.
There has been a lot of talk about Dhoni's future in the IPL, but there has been no concrete confirmation from the player or the Chennai Super Kings. MS Dhoni could not perform much better in IPL 2025; on most occasions, he was seen sending other players to bat over himself. MS Dhoni is over 44 years old, and many fans believe that he should retire now from the IPL as well. But Dhoni's die-hard fans have been heard saying many times that he will probably retire from the IPL after winning one more IPL trophy.
Recently, Dhoni was seen inaugurating Maxvision Eye Super Speciality Hospital in Chennai. On this occasion, he talked a lot about health and his IPL team Chennai Super Kings. Speaking with Dr Velu and Dr Kasu Prasad Reddy on the occasion of the inauguration of the centres, MS Dhoni said, "It's also important to take care of your overall health, especially considering that most jobs these days are desk-based, and therefore there's a decrease in mobility and physical activity.” He further added, "A comprehensive health check-up is very important, and COVID-199 has truly taught us that health is wealth.”
During the interaction, Mr Dhoni also spoke about his love for Chennai, the future of Chennai Super Kings, CSK's disappointing performance in IPL 2025, his commitment to lifelong learning, his life inspirations, challenges, etc.
"There were some shortcomings that we need to address. I think our batting order is completely in place now. Rutu (Gaikwad) will be back. There is a mini auction coming up in December. You know there are some shortcomings, and we will try to overcome them. But then, you have to be at your best at the start of the tournament. You have to plan correctly. You have to use the resources in the best possible way. Fans are also disappointed, but it is also true that players are always more disappointed than fans. That is why we talk about processes. But at the same time, we want the result to go in our favour. Last year it was not like that,” MS Dhoni said at the inauguration of Maxvision Eye Super Speciality Hospital in Chennai.
Apart from this, MS Dhoni also said a few things about the future of the Chennai Super Kings. “Looking ahead, we will try to sort out most of the things. And hopefully, we will do our best," Dhoni said at the inauguration of Maxvision Eye Super Speciality Hospital in Chennai.
Chennai Super Kings' performance in IPL 2025 was nothing special, whereas MS Dhoni scored 196 runs in 14 matches played in 2025, including a highest score of 30* runs against Delhi Capitals, while his strike rate was over 135. Overall, MS Dhoni has played 278 matches in his IPL career and has scored 5,439 runs, with a brilliant average of 38.30, where he scored 24 half-centuries, while his strike rate was above 137. When the Chennai Super Kings were banned for 2 years in 2016-2017, MS Dhoni was seen playing for the Rising Pune Supergiants. Apart from that, he has always represented the Chennai Super Kings in his IPL career.
