The Pakistan Women's Cricket Team will host South Africa Women for a three-match ODI series before the all-important ICC (International Cricket Council) ODI World Cup 2025. It will be a good game time for both teams, and considering that, the PCB has announced this bilateral series at home. The series will commence from September 16, 2025, and the last game will be played on September 22, 2025. All the games will be played at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Playing a bilateral series just before a big event like the ODI World Cup is a good thing for both teams. Here are some positives.
No matter how many net sessions you do, an ideal match practice is when the player is in the middle of the game, handling a match situation. This three-match ODI series is a good thing for both teams, Pakistan Women and South Africa Women. A bilateral series provides competitive match time, helping players shift from training mode to game mode.
Both teams will get a chance to finalise the team combinations. They can access the performances of their players in a series, which will not be the case if they don’t play at all. PAK W and SA W, both teams, do not have any ODI series lined up before the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025. SA W did not have any bilateral series lined up before the WC. PAK W only has one T20I series of three matches before the tournament. So now, having this series is a big plus for both teams.
The series will help the players boost their confidence. Any batter or bowler who performs well in this series will go with much-needed confidence into the WC. They will have runs and wickets under their belt. Out-of-form players can find rhythm, and in-form players can carry their purple patch into the World Cup.
Playing a series will also help both teams to assess the fitness of their players. After all the assessments, they can manage their players’ (especially their fast bowlers) workload.
Pakistan Women's Cricket Team will play a three-match T20I series against Ireland in Ireland from August 07 to 11, 2025. Then, they will host SA W for a three-match ODI series before heading to Sri Lanka (SL) to play the WC 2025. They will play all of their league stage games at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, from October 02 to 24, 2025. PAK W will also play two warm-up matches against SL Women and SL A Women on September 25 and 28, respectively, at the same venue.
PAK Women’s next series after the ODI WC will be in February-March 2026. They will tour South Africa for 3-match T20Is and as many ODIs from February 10 to March 01, 2026.
Pakistan Women will start their ICC ODI WC 2025 campaign against Bangladesh Women (BAN W) on October 02. Then, they will play against the arch-rivals India on October 05. Their last league match will be against the host Sri Lanka on October 24.
