Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw is set to display his extraordinary batting power and skills in the upcoming Mumbai T20 Leagues. He has been signed by the North Mumbai Panthers for the tournament. Though, went unsold in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction, this domestic league offers him a valuable stage to show his form. Previously, there were speculations about him being a potential replacement for the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad in the CSK squad, but the franchise chose Ayush Mhatre instead. Now, the young opener has a renewed opportunity to make an impact at the domestic level.
The T20 Mumbai League features India Internationals and local talents across eight teams. Here’s a list of well-known Indian players and the teams they are playing for in the T20 Mumbai League. Suryakumar Yadav is part of the Triumph Knights, while Shreyas Iyer is playing for the SOBO Mumbai Falcons. Shivam Dube represents ARCS Andheri, and Prithvi Shaw is with North Mumbai Panthers. Shardul Thakur plays for Thane Eagle Strikers, and Ajinkya Rahane is in the Bandra Blasters team. Sarfaraz Khan is a member of Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs, and Tushar Deshpande is part of the MSC Maratha Royals squad.
According to the reports, the MCA will be paying Rs 15 lakh each to all Indian players as appearance fees besides their auction money. “Indian players will be paid 15 lakh separately by the association as a participation fee, plus they will earn separately from the auction fees. They are working on the base price and other details as well. Around 2800 local cricketers have registered for the upcoming league, and an auction for its league will be held in May. The association is planning to start its league just after the IPL from May 26 to June 5.
MCA secretary, Abhay Hadap, stated that, “The response to Season 3 of the T20 Mumbai League has been phenomenal. The fact that over 2800 players have registered speaks volumes about both the popularity of the league and the undying cricket passion of Mumbaikars. We are thrilled to see such enthusiastic participation and remain committed to nurturing the next generation of cricket stars.
Fans are eagerly waiting for the clash after the result of the IPL 2025, as the T20 Mumbai League is scheduled to be held soon. The mega auction for the tournament is slated for May 7, with eight teams ready to compete it out for the coveted trophy.
The MCA recently added the league by inviting bids for two new teams, increasing the total to eight franchises. Back in season 3 (2018), the tournament featured six teams — North Mumbai Panthers, ARCS Andheri, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, NaMo Bandra Blasters, Eagle Thane Strikers, and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs.
