What if there is rain on the reserve day as well?

It was a one-of-a-kind clash between the Gujarat Titans and the Chennai Super Kings in the final of the 2023 season when the rain stretched the match to more than two days. With the IPL 2025 final taking place at the same venue, there is a huge possibility of rain making an interruption in the all-important match and its reserve day as well.

In case the final is abandoned due to rain and there is rain on the subsequent reserve day as well, the trophy will not be shared. Some of the older fans who have seen the Champions Trophy being shared by India and Sri Lanka in 2002 will be wondering how a winner will be decided.

The current rule in the IPL states that a winner would be decided on the basis of the position in the points table. If the rain does make an interruption on the reserve day as well, the Punjab Kings would be named the winner.
