David Warner smashed the most fours in BBL 2024/25. The former Australian batter struck 44 fours as he returned to the Big Bash as the Sydney Thunder’s skipper. He was the second-highest run-scorer in the season. Mitchell Owen the highest run-scorer in the season ranks second on the list for hitting the most fours. The opening batter smashed 35 fours in the season.
Marcus Stoinis with 34 fours, Ben Duckett with 29, and Sam Billings with 28 rank third, fourth, and fifth respectively. Duckett’s 29 fours were the highest for an overseason batter in the season.
Marcus Stoinis has the 5th most fours in the Big Bash League. The bulky Australian all-rounder has smashed 265 fours in the tournament so far. He is one of the most powerful cricketers in the world and is a regular feature in the Australian team in limited-overs matches. Apart from the BBL, Stoinis’ big-hitting abilities have made him a sought-after commodity in leagues around the world including the Indian Premier League. The Perth-born all-rounder started his career with the Scorchers in 2012/13. However, he moved to the stars in the following year and has been a mainstay for them since then.
His best time in the Stars’ jersey came from BBL 7 to BBL 9. In the three seasons, Stoinis struck 151 fours in 43 matches. On average, the right-hander would hit a four in less than eight balls. BBL 2019/20 was his best season so far in the tournament, as the all-rounder scored 705 runs hitting 62 fours while opening the batting.
Glenn Maxwell has hit the 4th most fours in the BBL. The Australian all-rounder is one of the best batters in T20 cricket. His performance in BBL 2024/25 helped Melbourne Stars to revive their campaign even after they lost their first five games. However, the comeback story could only last till the knockout stage. Maxwell is known for his ability to strike boundaries consistently. He strikes a boundary every fifth ball in the tournament and a four in less than eight deliveries. Maxwell’s strike rate of 155.36 is the highest among those with at least 1,500 runs in the tournament.
His best season in terms of hitting fours came in BBL 2021/22 when the ‘Big Show’ struck 49 fours in the season. Unexpectedly, it was his most prolific season as the right-hander scored 468 runs in only 13 games.
Aaron Finch has hit the 3rd most fours in the Big Bash League. The former Australian skipper smashed 292 fours in his 13-season-long career in the marquee league. Finch unlike many other cricketers has a better record in T20 internationals in comparison to T20 leagues. The right-handed batter was a consistent run-scorer in the league and in spite of never being the highest run-scorer in a season, Finch has the second most runs in the tournament.
His best season in the Big Bash came in 2022/23. In 15 matches for the Renegades, Finch scored 428 runs and smashed 39 fours. But his poor strike rate of 121.24 left a lot to be desired for the fans. In the last season, Finch started to show signs of aging as he scored only 66 runs in five matches at a strike rate of less than run-a-ball. The T20 World Cup retired from the league playing his last match in the Melbourne Derby where he was dismissed for a duck.

D’Arcy Short has hit the 2nd most fours in the BBL. The opening batter has hit 305 fours in the league. Playing for the Hobart Hurricanes, Short quickly rose to fame after his first few seasons. In just his second season in the BBL, Short made 572 runs and was the highest run-scorer in 2017/18. The left-handed batter’s exploits in the season included 53 fours and resulted in a contract from the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.
However, Short’s incredible success was not a one-time wonder as he bettered his performance in the following season. The opening batter scored 637 in the following season including 65 fours and ended up as the highest run-scorer once again.
Chris Lynn has hit the most fours in the BBL. The opening batter has hit 327 fours in the competition. Lynn is known for his sixes and holds the record for hitting the most sixes in BBL as well. However, it is not a surprise that a batter of his caliber holds the record for hitting the most fours as well. The Australian opening batter has been the best in the history of the league.
Lynn’s ability to score 300+ runs season after season makes him stand out among the rest of the batters. The Australian batter has scored 300 runs or more in a season seven times. While he has never been the player with the most runs in a season, Lynn holds the record for scoring the most runs in the tournament. His best season in terms of hitting fours came in BBL 2022/23. In the season, Lynn scored 416 runs that included 40 fours.
Glenn Maxwell holds the record for hitting the most fours in a single innings in BBL. The Australian all-rounder hit 22 fours during his unbeaten knock of 154 runs for the Melbourne Stars against the Hobart Hurricanes. His knock was also the highest individual score in the BBL.
Maxwell is followed by Luke Pomersbach who hit 15 fours in his unbeaten knock of 112 runs for Brisbane Heat in BBL 2012/13. English cricketer, James Vince is ranked third for hitting the most fours in a single innings in the BBL. The right-handed batter hit 14 fours in a knock of 98 runs and remained not out in BBL 2020/21.
