CricViz and Prasar Bharati announced their partnership during the launch event for the Great Indian Cricket Show in New Delhi on Tuesday. The event was attended by Navneet Kumar Sehgal (Prasar Bharati, Chairman), Gaurav Dwivedi (Prasar Bharati, CEO), and Michael Kivido (CricViz, MD).
Being India’s public broadcaster, Prasar Bharati, even in modern times, has an unparalleled reach. For CricViz, it gives the platform a great opportunity to enhance its audience in the Indian sub-continent region. There is no doubt over the fact that India, as a country, is the biggest consumer of cricket media in different forms. However, it will be a challenge to produce a data-driven show in a region where emotion often takes the centre stage.
Prasar Bharati’s role in this partnership is going to be huge, given that they have enough knowledge about the Indian diaspora and the market. As the next generation of fans commences to engage with the sport, Prasar Bharati, with its diverse channels, will look to cater to a younger demographic.
Talking during the launch event, Dwivedi said, “The Great Indian Cricket Show is an important step in Prasar Bharati’s continuing endeavour to bring high-quality, meaningful content to audiences across India. It seeks to honour the country’s cricketing legacy while engaging with the next generation of fans.”

The Great Indian Cricket Show will be a weekly production from the offices of Prasar Bharati and CricViz. Each episode will air on DD Sports on Saturday and Sunday at 8 PM IST. The shows will also feature on Akashvani radio station, Waves OTT App, and other digital platforms of Prasar Bharati.
The Great Indian Cricket Show will provide a one-of-a-kind experience with non-live content. In today’s market, despite the sport of cricket being more than a billion-dollar industry, there is a serious lack of content revolving around cricket at the moment. Apart from live-content broadcast channels, there are barely enough media channels that provide an in-depth analytical look at the game.
CricViz, with its different tools, lets the fans follow closely without missing a single beat of the game. For instance, their WinViz predictor showcases which team was the favourite to win the clash at different times in the game. Given that the tool holds much more importance during live content, it can be used to provide the exact moment at which the game turned on its head.
The Great Indian Cricket Show will feature a list of esteemed guests, including past Indian cricketers. The list includes some of the most famous names in the present-day broadcast market. Anil Kumble, Parthiv Patel, Aakash Chopra, Sanjay Bangar, Murali Kartik, and Sanjay Manjrekar, along with other cricketers, will be on the panel for the show. However, in the past, there have been many instances of anchors being as important, if not more, in running such types of content.
Gaurav Kapur is one of the prime examples, with the 44-year-old having anchored pre-shows and post-shows for a number of years with different cricket channels. The cricket presenter has a rich portfolio of having worked with Sony Sports as well as Cricbuzz. He recently made a comeback to TV broadcasting by joining the Sony team for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
