The Rajasthan Royals for only the second time this season has won a match while chasing a target. Like their previous win, it was Vaibhav Suryavanshi who top socred with a half-century. The Royals finished their campaign with a win and are now two points ahead of CSK in ninth position.
Rajasthan Royals score 164/4 in 15 overs. Need 24 runs in 24 balls. Jurel: 18* (8), Hetmyer: 1* (2)
Noor Ahmad produced a jaffa to get rid of Riyan Parag in the 16th over. It was a wrong-un delivery which Parag edged back to his stumps. On the very next delivery, it was a wide down the leg side which went to the boundary and eased the pressure on the RR batters.
The fans of the Rajasthan Royals must be feeling deja vu, seeing how their chase is once again getting derailed. It is now up to Shimron Hetmyer and Dhurv Jurel to see off the chase and redeem themselves.
Rajasthan Royals score 150/3 in 15 overs. Need 38 runs in 30 balls. Parag: 3* (3), Jurel: 11* (5)

Rajasthan Royals score 138/3 in 14 overs. Need 50 runs in 36 balls. Parag: 2* (2)
Ravichandran Ashwin provided a much-needed breakthrough against his former IPL team. The right-arm off-spinner dismissed Sanju Samson in the 14th over with the wicketkeeper only nine runs short of his half-century. On the last ball of the over, the veteran off-spinner dismissed the half-centurion, Suryavanshi.
Both the set batters are now back into the paviliion. Will this over from Ashwin change the game? In their last game this season, the RR middle-order will be tested once again.
Rajasthan Royals score 134/1 in 13 overs. Need 54 runs in 42 balls. Suryavanshi: 55* (30), Samson: 41* (30)

Noor Ahmad, after conceding 17 runs in his first over, had bounced back nicely in his second over. He gave away only four runs off the first four balls before overstepping. Rajasthan Royals score 110/1 in 11 overs. Need 78 runs in 54 balls. Suryavanshi: 44* (23), Samson: 30* (24)
CSK’s third spinner, Ravindra Jadeja, was given the ball by MS Dhoni in an attempt to break the partnership. The left-arm spinner was smashed for a huge six by the 15-year-old on the third ball of the 11th over. He repeated almost a similar shot to smack a second six in the over. All four overs from CSK spinners so far in the innings have featured at least one boundary.

Rajasthan Royals score 65/1 in 7 overs. Need 123 runs in 78 balls. Suryavanshi: 12* (10), Samson: 17* (13)

Rajasthan Royals score 49/1 in 5 overs. Need 139 runs in 15 overs. Suryavanshi: 6* (5), Samson: 7* (6)
Vaibhav Suryavanshi earned his first boundary of the match. However, it did not come off as an attacking shot but as an outside edge while attempting to play a defensive shot. His skipper, Sanju Samson, in the same over, played a textbook lofted straight drive to get his first boundary of the night.
Rajasthan Royals score 38/1 in 4 overs. Need 150 runs in 16 overs. Suryavanshi: 1* (3), Samson: 1* (2)
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s blistering knock came to an end as Anshul Kamboj clean bowled the left-handed batter. Jaiswal struck his fifth four of the innings on the third ball of the over but was dismissed on the very next ball.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi finally opened his account in the fourth over with a single. The 15-year-old had been on the non-striking end for the majority of the first three overs.
Rajasthan Royals score 31/0 in 3 overs. Need 157 runs in 17 overs. Jaiswal: 31* (16), Suryavanshi: 0* (2)
It had been tough going for Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first couple of overs against Khaleel Ahmed and Anshul Kamboj. However, he bounced back in great style against Khaleel in the third over. He was given some width on the off side and made the most of it to hit three fours and a six off successive deliveries.
Rajasthan Royals score 12/0 in 2 overs. Need 176 runs in 18 overs. Jaiswal: 12* (10), Suryavanshi: 0* (2)
The bowlers from Chennai Super Kings are finding a great deal of movement in their opening spells. They had kept quiet the two dangerous left-handed batters for the first nine balls. Jaiswal broke the shackles as he struck the first six of the innings against Anshul Kamboj.
Rajasthan Royals score 5/0 in 1 over. Need 183 runs in 19 overs. Jaiswal: 5* (5), Suryavanshi: 0* (1)
For the second time in a row, Yashasvi Jaiswal, facing a left-arm pacer, started his innings with a four off the first ball. It was an unconvincing boundary for the left-handed batter as MS Dhoni could have taken a catch to dismiss him. Khaleel Ahmed found movement in the air and troubled Jaiswal on a couple of occasions in the over.
Rajasthan Royals did well to restrict the Super Kings to a score of 187 runs. A few nights ago at the same venue, Gujarat Titans, thanks to some great batting from Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan, chased down 200 runs without losing a single wicket. Only 17 runs were scored in the last three overs thanks to some great disciplined bowling from Akash Madhwal and Tushar Deshpande. Madhwal picked up two wickets in the final over, dismissing both Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni.
Chennai Super Kings are at 170/6 after 17 overs. Dube: 34* (24), Dhoni: 12* (11)
Wanindu Hasaranga bowled an impressive spell of four overs. The Sri Lankan spinner, while picking up only a solitary wicket, was extremely economical. He did not bowl many freebies and gave away only 27 runs. Barring a couple of sixes by Dube in his last two overs, Hasaranga was right on the money for the majority of his four overs.
Chennai Super Kings are at 159/6 after 16 overs. Dube: 26* (21), Dhoni: 11* (8)
It has been tough going for MS Dhoni against the spinners throughout the season. However, Riyan Parag, with his unusual low release action, tempted the veteran batter with a full delivery. The CSK skipper struck a huge six down the ground to show his authority against the tweakers.
Chennai Super Kings are at 146/6 after 15 overs. Dube: 24* (19), Dhoni: 2* (4)
The moment MS Dhoni came to the crease, Sanu Samson extended Wanindu Hasaranga’s spell. The Sri Lankan pacer gave away only a single run on the first three balls of the 15th over before being hit for a huge six by Shivam Dube.
Chennai Super Kings are at 138/6 after 14 overs. Dube: 17* (16), Dhoni: 1* (1)
Boundaries had dried up for the Super Kings as they had only scored 13 runs in 13 balls. Madhwal, bowling his second over, reaped the benefits of the pressure exerted by Hasaranga in the previous over as he rattled Brevis’ stumps.
Chennai Super Kings are at 128/5 after 12 overs. Brevis: 37* (18), Dube: 13* (12)
Akash Madhwal came to bowl his first over, but, unfortunately for the pacer, wicketkeeper Sanju Samson let one ball fly between his gloves, resulting in five wides. He was smashed for a four by Dube on the very next delivery.
Chennai Super Kings are at 114/5 after 11 overs. Brevis: 34* (15), Dube: 7* (9)
Yudhvir Singh came on to bowl his final over of the game. The right-arm pacer could not add another wicket to his tally. He was smashed for a six by Brevis before Shivam Dube pulled him for a four on the fifth ball of the over.
Chennai Super Kings are at 102/5 after 10 overs. Brevis: 27* (12), Dube: 2* (6)

Chennai Super Kings are at 89/5 after 9 overs. Brevis: 16* (8), Dube: 1* (4)
Given Shivam Dube’s prowess against spinners, Wanindu Hasaranga, despite picking up a wicket in his first over. Kwena Maphaka came back into the attack and was smashed for a no-look six by his compatriot, Brevis. The left-arm pacer bowled a couple of wides to end another expensive over.
Chennai Super Kings are at 78/5 after 8 overs. Brevis: 8* (4), Dube: 0* (2)
It is a third wicket for Yudhvir Singh as wickets have continued to tumble for the Super Kings. Ravindra Jadeja was the last man to fall thanks to a sharp catch from Dhruv Jurel. It is the third wicket to fall for the five-time champions in as many overs.
Chennai Super Kings are at 71/4 after 7 overs. Jadeja: 1* (4), Brevis: 1* (1)
In spite of going at a rate of almost 11 runs per over, the CSK have taken the ultra-aggressive option. The mindset resulted in Mhatre’s dismissal in the sixth over. Wanindu Hasaranga, in his first over, picked up his first wicket with Ashwin looking to slog him over the deep mid-wicket boundary. However, the right-handed batter could only find Shimron Hetmyer at the boundary.
Chennai Super Kings are at 68/3 after 6 overs. Ashwin: 12* (6), Jadeja: 0* (1)
Ayush Mhatre continued to attack on a great batting surface here in Delhi. Tushar Deshpande, bowling against his former team, was on the receiving end of the mauling from the 17-year-old. Mhatre struck three fours on the trot before a great catch from Kwena Maphaka ended his night.
Chennai Super Kings are at 55/2 after 5 overs. Mhatre: 31* (16), Ashwin: 12* (5)
Ayush Mhatre once again has provided the Super Kings a great start in the power play. The young right-handed batter struck two fours in the fifth over to welcome Kwena Maphaka into the attack.
Chennai Super Kings are at 44/2 after 4 overs. Mhatre: 21* (11), Ashwin: 11* (4)
Thanks to losing early wickets in the power play, it was Ravichandran Ashwin, who walked in to bat at number four. The right-hander walked in at the same position in the previous game against the Kolkata Knight Riders as well. The promotion in the order has worked so far greatly in the favour of the five-time champions. Ashwin in the fourth over against Yudhvir Singh struck a four on the third ball of the over before flicking the very next delivery for a six. A no-ball in the over fetched Ayush Mhatre a six on the free hit and four on the last ball to end an expensive over.
Chennai Super Kings are at 12/2 after 2 overs. Mhatre: 2* (2)
Devon Conway was dismissed for another low score, with Yudhvir Singh bagging the Kiwi left-hander’s wicket. He had started on a bright note, but soon the knock came to an end. He ended the over with another wicket.
Chennai Super Kings are at 7/0 after 1 over. Mhatre: 1* (1), Conway: 6* (5)
Tushar Deshpande, playing against his former franchise, bowled the first over for the Royals. The right-arm pacer induced an outside on the very first ball from Ayush Mhatre’s bat, but it fell short of the wicketkeeper, Sanju Samson. Devon Conway, on the opposite end, produced a scintillating drive down the ground to fetch him his first boundary of the match.
RR won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Ayush Mhatre, Devon Conway, Urvil Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Dewald Brevis, Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni (C and wk), Anshul Kamboj, Ravichandran Ashwin, Noor Ahmad, Khaleel Ahmed
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Sanju Samson (C and wk), Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Shimron Hetmyer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Kwena Maphaka, Yudhvir Singh Charak, Tushar Deshpande, Akash Madhwal
Arun Jaitley Stadium is a heaven for batters, especially in the evening when dew makes it tough for bowlers to grip the ball. The shorter boundaries also contribute to high scores. The pitch favors batsmen, allowing the ball to come onto the bat smoothly.
