Suresh Raina, the Mr consistent of IPL is first in this list with 714 runs in 24 playoffs matches. Raina has played mostly for the Chennai Super Kings and also played for the Gujarat Lions. The finisher and captain cool MS Dhoni is second in this list with 523 runs in 28 playoff matches, playing for CSK most of the time and RPSG for a couple of sessions. These batters are the pillars of their respective teams and in crunch matches they always deliver for their teams irrespective of the situation of the match. Though players like Faf Du Plessis and Shane Watson are foreigners, they have maintained an impression of being the backbones of their respective teams.

Best Batsman in IPL Playoff Matches

1.       Suresh Raina

The former Indian all rounder and the Chinna Thalai of the Chennai Super Kings is the batsman with the most runs in the playoff matches of the Indian Premier League. Raina was called as the Mr. IPL for his consistent performance in this cash rich league tournament.

Apart from playing with the yellow army side of the Chennai Super Kings, Raina has also played for the team of Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League when CSK and RR were banned in 2016 and 2017 IPL editions. He has scored 714 runs from just 24 games played in the playoffs of this cash rich league tournament.

2.       Mahendra Singh Dhoni 

The current skipper of the Chennai Super Kings and a seasoned campaigner of the Indian Premier League, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has the second most runs in the playoffs. MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are the only two skippers, who have led their franchise teams to five IPL titles.

Mahi Bhai has also played for the team of Raising Pune Supergiants in his fabulous career of the IPL. In 28 games, MSD has scored 523 runs. But unfortunately the CSK side didn’t qualify for the playoffs in the ongoing season of TATA IPL 2025. Otherwise Mahi would have added more runs in his tally in the qualifying rounds of the Indian Premier League.

3.       Shubham Gill 

The Prince of Indian Cricket and the newly appointed red ball format skipper, Shubham Gill is the 3rd highest run getter in the TATA IPL playoffs. Gill is the current skipper of the Gujarat Titans and he has also played for the team of the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

The skipper of GT will look to maintain his good form in the eliminator round of the TATA IPL 2025 against Mumbai Indians tomorrow. Gill has played 10 matches in the playoffs of the Indian Premier League and scored 474 runs. The newly appointed Test match skipper is expected to deliver the second title of for Gujarat. 

4.       Faf Du Plessis

The legend from the South African cricket team, Faf Du Plessis still plays the Indian Premier League. In the TATA IPL 2025, he played for the team of Delhi Capitals and overall, he has also represented the teams like Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In the playoffs, Faf has scored 390 runs from 15 matches.

5.       Shane Watson

The all rounder from the Aussie nation, Shane Watson is just the second overseas player and the last batsman to feature in this list of the players who have scored the most runs in the playoff matches of the Indian Premier League. Watson scored 389 runs in 12 playoff matches. He played for CSK, RR and RCB in his career of the cash rich league tournament.
